The correct answer is D) Catholics and Jews to the US.

During the late 1800s and early 1900s, new waves of immigration brought large numbers of Catholics and Jews to the US.

During the late 19th century and early 21st century, many immigrants were Catholics and Jews that came from the European continent. These immigrants were running from political or religious persecution, they were very poor and desperate, or they simply wanted better living opportunities for their families.

In an effort to deal with an increasing number of immigrants, in 1892, the government of the US opened an immigration station on Ellis Island in New York City. Ellis Island, next to the Statue of Liberty in New York, was the first federal immigration station in the U.S. It operated from 1892 to 1954.

Ellis Island immigration station opened in 1892 and representing the entrance door for immigrants into the United States for 60 years. The majority of immigrants at that time came from South and Eastern Europe. Today, Ellis Island station is a museum.

What was the significance of taiwan after the red army took control of china in 1949?
TEA [102]
Taiwan became important because an exile government of China was formed there that claimed to be the rightful government of China. This caused China to have two governments, one that ruled China which was the communist one and one in exile which claimed their right to have power over China but couldn't actually use that power in any way. The problem still exists today and other countries have mostly been neutral on this question.

Dima020 [189]

Answer:

By giving the president larger powers to use force and other means necessary to face the communist moves in Southeast Asia.

Explanation:

The so-called Gulf of Tonkin Resolution was passed by Congress on August 7, 1964. It authorized president Lyndon B. Johnson "to take all necessary measures to repel any armed attack against the forces of the United States and to prevent further aggression” by the communists of North Vietnam.

It followed the alledged attack on two U.S. Navy destroyers by North Vietnamese boats in international waters of the Gulf of Tonkin. This resolution opened the door to full military engagement by the US in the conflict in Vietnam.
