Issues of race and racism are not accurately described in most curriculums. The truths about slavery are much more harsh than what is described in the curriculum. Most curriculums neglect the use of sexual assault against black people during slavery to maintain control and order within the slave population. it also refuses to acknowledge how, even after the abolition of slavery, they still found ways to exploit the black population, and finding new ways to keep them in slavery (ex. prison industrial complex). The curriculum should be written by black people who have experienced racism and are knowledgeable in the systemic oppression of black people. it should not be sugar coated
