Answer: The story "The Seventh Man" from Haruki Murakami begins with a meeting where there are seven people, and each of them is to speek. The main character of the story is the last person to talk: the Seventh Man.

The man tells how, when he was ten years old, a typhoon and a tsunami struck his hometown. After the typhoon ended, he and his best friend, who he simply calls "K", went out to assess the damages it caused. However, when they were outside, a gigantic tsunami started to form. The man realized this, and wanted to warn K, but instinctively ran away in fear. The tsunami caught both of the boys, but only the narrator survived.

The man carried the guilt of having abandoned his friend with him throughout all his life. He developed a terrible fear of water and for the next forty years he had no happiness.

After the man's parents died, he came back to his hometown where, after finding some old drawing K had done, he went to the shore and understood that he had been foolish to not face his fears.

At the end of the story, the setting returned to the meeting where the Seventh Man was proclaiming that the worst thing a man can do is live in fear and let that steal something precious away for him.

What is it most likely reason “The Monk’s Tale” is full of parables?
jonny [76]
Some literary critics believe that a large portion of the tale may have been written before the rest of the Canterbury Tales and that the four most contemporary figures were added at a later point. A likely dating for this hypothetical first draft of the text would be the 1370s, shortly after Chaucer returned from a trip to Italy where he was exposed to Giovanni Boccaccio's Concerning the Falls of Illustrious Men as well as other works such as the Decameron. The tragedy of Bernabò Visconti must have been written after 1385, the date of the protagonist's death. The basic structure for the tale is modeled after the Giovanni Boccaccio's Illustrious Men, while the tale of Ugolino of Pisa is retold from Dante's Inferno

1. Analyze Whitman uses parallelism, the repetition of a grammatical structure, in lines 1-4. Describe what is
andrew-mc [135]

Answers with Explanations:

1. Describe what is parallel in these lines?

Answer:<u> Lines 1-4</u> are parallel because the lines started with the subordinate conjunction "when." This makes the lines<u> "subordinate clauses."</u> The use of "when" makes it clear that the event is happening<u> during that time</u>.

Aside from this, the lines also used past tense for every line <em>(learned, ranged, shown and heard).</em>

Explanation: The question is related to the poem entitled, "When I Heard the Learn'd Astronomer," written by<em> Walt Whitman</em> in <em>1865.</em>

2. What impressions of the astronomer's lecture does the parallelism create?

Answer: Parallelism creates the impression that the lecture of the astronomer is<em> a serious matter because it mentioned about figures, columns, charts and diagrams. </em>It also taught the audience to use thei<u>r mathematical skills</u> by adding and dividing. This proves the lecture as something similar to that of learning a skill.
