What was the cult of domesticity and how was it a result of the market revolution?
Lyrx [107]
The "Cult of Domesticity" was a prevailing idea (chiefly among the upper and middle classes) that a woman's "true" nature was to be domestic and therefore, be the chief caretaker of the home and that which came with it. To that end, it was made more likely with the advent of the Market Revolution and the saturation of ideas and inventions to enable a woman to "better" keep her home and family. Given the class-based nature, it is a logical conclusion because of the inherent wealth of those strata of society.

How and why did Rome make the transition from a republic to an empire?
creativ13 [48]
The main reason the Roman Republic failed is that it was never a democracy. The rich had undue influence in the electoral process. The various generals like Marius, Sulla, Pompey and Caesar were much more popular. There was also increasingly instability, many civil wars. And everywhere outside of Italy was governed as a province, with a Governor imposed by Rome. Most actual inhabitants were excluded from the workings of the Republic.
