Tens of thousands of women joined The Women's Land Army to work the soil, fields, and orchards to free men for military service. Women took to the land gladly and brought in the harvest during the war years to supply food to the nation, the military, and our allies.
They took men's positions in agricultural and manufacturing posts and became doctors, nurses, engineers, drivers and wardens and at times fought in the war
The Founders had been so concerned with making sure the central government couldn't become too powerful that they neglected to make it powerful enough to solve the issues facing a new nation.
