Answer:

B.  The mother is upset at the rough nature of the father's "waltz" with their son.

Explanation:

Theodore Roethke's poem "My Papa’s Waltz" presents the speaker's image of his father by describing the relationship and memory he has of his father through the things they would do. But at the same time, the poem also presents the 'rough' nature of the father through his actions.

In the given lines, the speaker recalls how their dance in the kitchen made his mother unhappy. He reveals how 'horrific' and 'violent' their father-son dance was, and continues, saying<em> "My mother's countenance Could not unfrown itself." </em>This line suggests that the mother did not like the rough nature of the father's dance with their son, for in the continuing lines, the speaker reveals <em>"At every step you missed My right ear scraped a buckle." </em>He also revealed how <em>"the pans Slid from the kitchen shelf"</em> during their father-son dance.

Thus, the correct answer is option B.

Any activity that you think that is unusual / out of the norm for kids your age to do during free time?
Dominik [7]

(For reference, I'm 17 and am responding as such)

Cleaning, studying, sporting activites.

While there are people who do these things, they prove to be on the whole uncommon activities. If these things are being done it is likely they don't consider the time they do these things with 'free time'.

We prefer to relax, be unbothered, and see what's going on on Y0uTube or social media, or just watch TV.

Are there answer choices? If not, Just reading over this passage for the first time, It seems the narrator could be describing something very majestic, like a statue built in the ocean, of a god or something. it seems as though the narrator personifies this statue as though the statue itself is a character and has feelings, maybe even something to hide. Hope this helps!
