Tito solved this equation. 2(3x+5)=22+5x-3x.
Lelechka [254]

Hello from MrBillDoesMath!

Answer:

x = 3

Discussion:

Remark: if Tito solved the equation why didn't he tell you what the solution was ?  );   Guess I'll have to do it myself....

2(3x+5) = 22 + 5x - 3x                 => 2(3x+5) = 6x + 10 and 5x-3x = 2x

6x + 10 = 22 + 2x                         => subtract 2x for both sides

6x - 2x + 10 = 22                          => subtract 10 from both sides

4x = 22-10 = 12                             => divide both sides by 4

x = 12/4 =3

Thank you,

MrB

Can someone check my answer? also tell me what property I used.
Semmy [17]
It is not having a definite property it is a way commonly used with algebraic expressions
26 = 8 + x (here, we put x instead of the number we don't know)
you can take 8 to the other side with 26 but it will be minus instead of plus
26 - 8 = ×
18 = x

A 168-cm tall person is 2 cm in Ming’s model. How high should his model swing be if the actual swing is 231 cm high?
serious [3.7K]

Answer:

The model swing should be <u>2.75 cm</u> high.

Step-by-step explanation:

Given:

A 168-cm tall person is 2 cm in Ming’s model.

If the actual swing is 231 cm high.

Now, to find how high should his model swing be.

Let the model swing be x\ cm.

So, 168 cm tall person is equivalent to 2 cm.

Thus, 231 cm actual swing is equivalent to x\ cm model swing.

Now, we get the height of the swing in the model by using cross multiplication method:

\frac{168}{2} =\frac{231}{x}

<em>By cross multiplication:</em>

⇒ 168x=462

<em>Dividing both sides by 168 we get:</em>

⇒ x=2.75\ cm.

Therefore, the model swing should be 2.75 cm high.
