Jacob Riis's book How The Other Half Lives, written in 1890, remains an outstanding example of the importance of investigative journalism and the continued vitality of the Fourth Estate. C. Bringing electricity to rural areas
In the 1930's, President Roosevelt issued a New Deal reform policy called the Tennessee Valley Authority Act, or TVA for shrot. This policy affected seven states in the Tennessee Valley, and did things such as maintain and build dams, prevent flooding, and bring electricity to those living in rural areas.
