The Hydro water department has a monthly service charge of $15.40 and a volume charge of $1.05 for every 100 cubic feet of water

. The total monthly cost is equal to the service charge plus the charge for the volume used during the month. If we let x represent the number of cubic feet of water (in hundreds) and y represent the total monthly cost, then we have: total monthly cost = volume charge + service charge y = 1.05x + 15.40 If the Johnson family used 300 ft3 less water this month than last month, then they can expect A. an increase in their water bill of $46.20. B. an increase in their water bill of $3.15. C. a decrease in their water bill of $3.15. D. a decrease in their water bill of $46.20.

An observer on the ground is x meters from the base of the launch pad of a rocket, which is at the same level as the observer. A
Flauer [41]
To illustrate the problem, refer to the following diagram, made with the ever-helpful notepad application:

  |\  |  \  |    \h|      \  |        \  |          \  |_____q\      x

Pretending as if that is a wonderfully-drawn triangle, we are given the distance x of the observer from the launch pad. The angle q is also stated, and is located in the diagram as shown. To look for the distance h of the tip of the rocket to the ground, we consider the following trigonometry function:

tan q = h/x

Since we are solving for h, we multiply both sides with x, giving us:

h = x * tan q

Among the choices, the correct answer is C.

I need help with p=2l+2w and solve for w
xxMikexx [17]

remember, you can do anything to an equation as long as you do it to both sides

try and isolate the variable you are solving for and divide it by its constant

p=2l+2w

minus 2l from both sides

p-2l=2w

divide both sides by 2

\frac{p-2l}{2}=w

w=\frac{p-2l}{2}=w

which can also be simplified to

w=\frac{p}{2}-l
