Bonjour !

<em>est-ce que question</em>

Est-ce qu'il a regardé la télé hier soir ?

<em>using inversion</em>

A-t-il regardé la télé hier soir ?

<em>EXPLANATION</em>

Il a regardé la télé hier soir.

you must invert  the  subject and the verb. <em>(or the auxiliary if its a compound tense)</em>

for some inversions, it's easy

ex = Tu as mangé du gâteau au chocolat.

      As-tu mangé du gâteau au chocolat ?

<em>you've just inverted "as"and  "tu" and put an hyphen  to separate the two.</em>

<em>But when the subject is "</em><em>il / elle / on" </em><em>and if the verb ends with a vowel , you must add a </em><em>-t- </em><em>for the pronunciation...</em>

<em>A-il regardé la télé ? you can't pronounce it correctly</em>

A-t-il regardé la télé ...? sounds better !

-

same for verbs of the 1st group ending in -er in présent ....

ex: tu manges  ==>  Manges-tu ?

but : elle mange  ==> mange-t-elle ?

-

hope this helps ☺☺☺
