One time when friendship proved to be important to me was when I had a fight with my friend. We were arguing and she said something about hurting herself. We got into a big fight because she told me she just said it to get me off her back after I told the counselor. In the end, our ten year friendship fizzled out. I was really sad because we had gotten close, but my friends told me not to feel bad. They reminded me that if I hadn't told anyone and she really had hurt herself, it would be much worse. I realized how impotant it was to have a group of people that you can rely on.
