Answer:

12. The slope is 2

    The y-intercept is 5

13. The slope is 1

     The y-intercept is 5

14. The slope is 0.99

     The y-intercept is 10

Step-by-step explanation:

12. If you use the rise over run method you go up by 2 and over 1. If you put rise over run you get 2/1 and that is equal to 2. So, slope is 2. The y-intercept is where x=0. If you look you can see that when x is 0, y is equal to 5. Therefore, the y-intercept is 5.

13. The slope is 1 because if you use the slope formula you can use two points like (1,6) and (2,7) in it to find that the slope is 1. You can also see that both the x and y variables go up by 1 each time, so the slope has to be 1. Once again the y-intercept is where x equals 0, even though it isn't shown on the graph we can infer it. At 0 days, the length of the kudzu would be 5 (because 5 is one step less than 6, remember the slope is 1).

14. The slope would have to be 0.99 because each consecutive download is 99 cents. There is a base membership fee of $10 so that has to be the y-intercept.

<em>I hope this helps!!</em>

Prove the identity. (tanx+1)^2=(1+2sinxcosx)/(cos^2x)
SOVA2 [1]
(\tan x+1)^2=\tan^2x+2\tan x+1
=\sec^2x+2\tan x
=\dfrac1{\cos^2x}+2\dfrac{\sin x}{\cos x}
=\dfrac1{\cos^2x}+\dfrac{2\sin x\cos x}{\cos^2x}
=\dfrac{1+2\sin x\cos x}{\cos^2x}

PLEASE HELP! 25 PTS!!
zubka84 [21]

Answer:

Solution given:

f(x)=\frac{x-16}{x^2+6x-40}

g(x)=\frac{1}{x+10}

now

f(x)+g(x)=\frac{x-16}{x^2+6x-40}+\frac{1}{x+10}....(1)

now

factoring x²+6x-40

we get

x²+10x-4x-40

x(x+10)-4(x+10)

(x+10)(x-4)

now substituting in equation 1 ,we get

f(x)+g(x)=\frac{x-16}{(x+10)(x-4)}+\frac{1}{x+10}

taking l.c.m

=\frac{(x-16)+(x-4)}{(x-10)(x-4)}

=now

opening bracket

\frac{x-16+x-4}{x²-10x-4x+40}

=\frac{2x-20}{x²+6x-40}

So

answer is :

B. \bold b\frac{2x-20}{x^2+6x-40}

Answer: They are parallel

Step-by-step explanation:

If two lines are parallel , then they must have the same slope and if two lines are perpendicular , the product of their slope must be -1.

To check this , we must calculate the slope of the two lines given.

Slope = \frac{y_{2}-y_{1}}{x_{2}-x_{1}}

from the first point

y_{1} = 2

y_{2} = 1

x_{1} = 5

x_{2} = -1

substituting the values

slope 1 = 1 - 2 / -3 - 5

slope1 = -1 / -8

slope 1 = 1/8

Using the same format to calculate the slope of the second line

y_{1} = -2

y_{2} = 0

x_{1} = -1

x_{2} = 15

slope 2 = 0 - (-2) / 15 - (-1)

slope 2 = 2/16

slope 2 = 1/8

Since slope 1 = slope 2 , this implies that the lines are parallel
