Answer:

2.34248 × 10^-4

Step-by-step explanation:

to subtract in scientific notation, you have to make the exponents equal to each other first. To do that, move the minuend's decimal point to the right.

moving decimals to the left will add 1 everytime you move it.

moving decimals to the right will subtract 1 everytime you move it.

(-4) - 3 = (-7) ← the minuend now becomes 2350 × 10^-7

Now that the exponents are equal, subtract normally.

(2350 × 10^-7) - (7.52 × 10^-7) = 2342.48 × 10^-7

scientific notations should always be in between the numbers 1 and 10, therefore, you have to move 2342.48's decimal to the left. Remember that you have to add the amount of times you moved the decimal place to the exponent.

= 3 + (-7) → -4

final answer = 2.34248 × 10^-4

Which number produces an irrational number when multiplied by 1/2
Ludmilka [50]

Quick answer

Any irrational number. I can't think of any exception to this statement.

sqrt(5) is irrational. 1/2 * sqrt(5) is still irrational.

-sqrt(5) is irrational. -1/2 * sqrt(5) is still irrational

2 + sqrt(5) is irrational. Multiplying this by 1/2 is still irrational.

1/2(2 + sqrt(5) = 1 + 1/2 * sqrt(5) ) is irrational.

Conclusion

There are no exceptions to this. All irrational numbers produce irrationals when multiplied by 1/2
