Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

PART A

Remember Scatter plot is a type of x-y graph

X is the horizontal line and will be the AGE

Y is the vertical lien and will be WEIGHT

PART B

Slope-intercept form is y = mx + b

m is the slope of the line, determined by calculating "change of y divided by change of x"

Age 2 and weight 32 would be the point (2, 32) on the graph

Age 8 and weight 60 is the point (8, 60) in the graph

to calculate slope solve m =  60-32 =

8-2

b is the y-intercept or the place on the graph where the line crosses the vertical line (y-axis)

Calculate b by plugging in one of the graph points (i.e (2, 32)) into the slope-intercept form along with the value of m you just calculated.

32 = m(2) + b   plug in your calculated value for m to solve for b

once you have solved for m and b, put those number into the equation y = mx + b

PART C

Once you have the slope-intercept form, you can solve the equation for y (weight of the girl), but plugging in 14 for x (since that is her age).

i.e. if the equation was y = 50x + 100

y = (50 * 14) + 100 = 650 -- which is an unrealistic weight for the girl but a good example on how to solve problem.
