The first impression would be the quality of the paper and the calligraphy with which the letter was written with since future readers might probably not have the luxury of seeing that because of the ease with which technology makes reading . I would let the readers know first of all that at a particular time paper and ink were very valuable. The letter would convey make them appreciate what they have and the ease with which they go about their business today. It will also convey the reader the importance of following through with college and how such steps have shaped the world they live in today. The letter will tell them about coal steam engines, concord planes, jet carriers, Elon Musk Hyperloop and how dream of conquering Mar started. The letter will tell them that the world is not dynamic that 50 years from the time they are reading the letter can be even much different and better and they can help make those changes .

Match each sentence to the type of figurative language it features.
djverab [1.8K]

Answer:

She floated around the room so easily she

could be Phileas Fogg - Allusion

She floated around the room like a balloon - Simile

She floated around the room, moving in no

specific direction - Metaphor.

Explanation:

A similar is used when comparing something to another. A sentence bearing a simile is identified by the presence of "like" or "as"

This is shown in the answer above where a lady's movement was compared to a balloon floating.

A metaphor is also used in comparison but this time directly. The quality given to the subject may not necessarily be true.

In the example above, the lady was described as floating "floated around the room..." Also notice that people do not necessarily float but in this case her movement was directly described as floating.

Allusion is used to make reference to objects, persons, places or even events.

In the example above, the ladies movement was not only described as floating but Phileas Fogg was used in reference to it.

Smart Snacking
"Don't eat that, you'll spoil your appetite." If only you had a dollar for every time you heard that growing up.

But if the right foods are offered at the right times, snacks can play an important role in managing kids' hunger and boosting nutrition. A well-timed snack can even out spikes in hunger and provide a much-needed energy boost between meals.

Snacks can keep younger children from getting so hungry that they become cranky, and they can keep older kids from overeating at larger meals. And for picky eaters of all ages, snacks can be added insurance that they're getting the necessary nutrients.

This doesn't mean that giving your child a cupcake half an hour before dinner is suddenly a good idea. The best snacks are nutritious — low in sugar, fat, and salt. Fresh fruit and vegetables and foods that contain whole grains and protein are also good choices.

But it's not just about what you offer as a snack — it's how much you serve and when. Pay attention to portion sizes and timing of snacks so they don't interfere with a child's appetite for the next scheduled meal.

Kids who are allowed to graze all day long often have a hard time figuring out when they're truly hungry — one key to maintaining a healthy weight in childhood and later in life. A structured meal and snack schedule is one solution. You offer the meals and snacks at the same times each day, and your kids can decide what they want to eat and how much.
