Some benefits:

You rule over the whole country.
You are considered to have the highest position.
You can help create/ amend laws.
Your blood line is the successor to the throne. 

Some challenges:

You have the whole country's responsibility in your hands.
There are many things to deal with day to day.
People may not agree or coincide with your decisions.
