If there is too little ACTH produced by the pituitary glad, would levels of cortisol be too high or too low? Explain your answer
Tanzania [10]

Answer:

If there is too little ACTH produced by the pituitary gland the level of cortisol produced would be less.

Explanation:

Addison’s disease is a primary adrenal deficiency and n people with this disease the pituitary gland produces very little adrenocoticotrophic hormone generally called ACTH.

Production of cortisol depends on the levels of ACTH produced by the pituitary. Cortisol is a steroid hormone produced by the adrenal gland. Cortisol maintains the blood pressure and regulates the levels of glucose and protein.

When the level of ACTH goes down the level of cortisol also goes down. People with addison’s disease show symptoms like weight loss, abdominal pain etc.
