Escoger choose the correct present progressive form for each subject pronoun. may 04 11:59 pm (late) 2 attempts remaining grade
miv72 [106K]

Answers:

In Spanish the present progressive form is similar to English, it is used to refer about an action that is currently happening (happening at this very moment).

This is written with the verb estar (to be) plus the verb in present participle, also called gerund.

If we want to write a complete sentence, we have to be careful because the verb estar must be correctly conjugated with each subject pronoun, as follows:

1st person singular: Yo estoy

2nd person singular: Tú estás

3rd person singular: Él/Ella/eso/esa está

1st person plural: Nosotros estamos

2nd person plural: Ustedes(In latinAmerica)/Vosotros(In Spain) están

3rd person plural: Ellos/Ellas están

Nevertheless, it is important to note that in Spanish grammar is not always necessary that the subject is explicitly in the sentence, it is called Tacit Subject, Implicit Subject or Null Subject.

This is because the subject is encoded in the verb conjugation, therefore it is not necessary the subject pronoun to recognize the correct present progressive form.

According to this, the sentences are written as:

1) Ustedes estamos durmiendo

Ustedes están durmiendo

2) Yo estoy comiendo

3) Él/Ella está cantando

4) Ellos/Ellas or Ustedes están hablando

5) yo estamos escribiendo

Yo estoy escribiendo

6) Yo estoy siguiendo

7) Ellos/Ellas or Ustedes están pensando

8) Tú estás mirando

9) nosotros estamos saliendo

10) Él/Ella está descansando

11) Ellos/Ellas or Ustedes están haciendo

12) Tú estás escuchando

13) tú estoy nadando

Tú estás nadando

14) Él/Ella está abriendo

15) Ellos/Ellas or Ustedes están pidiendo

16) Tú estás jugando

17) él estamos compartiendo

Él está compartiendo

18) Él/Ella está leyendo

19) Ellos/Ellas or Ustedes están bailando

20) Tú estás caminando
