Answer:

You could probably figure out that the boys in the story are English schoolboys, and were more than likely being evacuated from their home country to escape the possibility of atomic warfare. (Does this help?)

WILL GIVE BRAINLIST!!!!!!!15 POINTS!!!!!
Digiron [165]
So i assume your writing about this. Here’s the 2 scenarios:

If it’s the giver:
Find a piece of text you find 2 suspenseful or humorous (what ever it may be) that’s the hard part. Then when your righting give a little background about the giver, use your 2 quotes from the text, and then talk about it. Why it stuck out to you and why it is considered humor or suspense. The point of view is a big factor in humor or suspense, for example, if the point of view is first person, the reader will hear the main characters thoughts and reactions. This can be very funny because each person reacts differently and you as the reader are getting a glimpse into a different persons point of view. Suspense works similarly. It’s mostly about what the author allows you to know and allows the character to know. Keep this in mind.

If it’s a specific novel:
Very similar approach except you will need to go into a little more detail, assuming the person reading this will have no idea what your talking about. Do the same things you would in the example above. Make sure you make it very clear to who ever is reading your answer what the point of view is. Mention what the book is called, your 2 examples, and whether they are an example of suspense or humor.

Hope this helps you!

2. In the middle of the night, the telephone screamed out my name over and over.
DochEvi [55]
I think the image being conveyed is someone sleeping in the middle of the night, and is being woken up by their phone ringing loudly.

The ringing sound of a telephone is being compared to a person repeatedly screaming someone’s name.

This story hills like elephants is mainly about a _____.
Anarel [89]
The best answer here is D, a decision. The entirety of the story centers around the choice that the American and his girlfriend must make. The story itself is rather vague, never coming out and saying what it is they're making said decision about, just that there is an operation that needs to take place. The entire story centers around this operation and the struggle the American and "Jig" have in making the choice to have said operation.

The entirety of this short story also takes place in a train station, which furthers the idea of their making a decision. They are in a transient place where they will board a train that will take them one way or the other, much like the decision that they must make will take them one way or the other.
