Answer:

chi

Explanation:

Vinny slipped, and dropped his towel in the mud. He

picked it up and tried to brush it off, but instead smeared

the mud spot around until the towel resembled something

someone’s dog had slept on. “Tst,” he said.

Joe-Boy, hiking down just behind him, laughed. “Hey,

Vinny, just think, that kid walked where you walking.”

“Shuddup,” Vinny said.

“You prob’ly stepping right where his foot was.”

Vinny moved to the edge of the trail, where the ravine fell

through a twisted jungle of gnarly trees and underbrush to the

stream far below. He could see Starlene and Mo farther ahead,

their heads bobbing as they walked, both almost down to the

pond where the boy had died.

“Hey,” Joe-Boy went on, “maybe you going be the one to

find his body.”

“You don’t cut it out, Joe-Boy, I going . . . I going . . . ”

“What, cry?”

Vinny scowled. Sometimes Joe-Boy was a big fat babooze.

They slid down the trail. Mud oozed between Vinny’s

toes. He grabbed at roots and branches to keep from falling.

Mo and Starlene were out of sight now, the trail ahead having

cut back.

Joe-Boy said, “You going jump in the water and go down

and your hand going touch his face, stuck under the rocks.

Ha ha ha . . . a ha ha ha!”

Vinny winced. He didn’t want to be here. It was too soon,

way too soon. Two weeks and one day.

He saw a footprint in the mud and stepped around it.

The dead boy had jumped and had never come back up.

Four search and rescue divers hunted for two days straight

and never found him. Not a trace. Gave Vinny the creeps. It

didn’t make sense. The pond wasn’t that big.

He wondered why it didn’t seem to bother anyone else.

Maybe it did and they just didn’t want to say.

Butchie was the kid’s name. Only fourteen.

Fourteen.

Two weeks and one day ago he was walking down this

trail. Now nobody could find him.

The jungle crushed in, reaching over the trail, and Vinny

So much is at stake in writing a conclusion. This is, after all, your last chance to persuade your readers to your point of view, to impress yourself upon them as a writer and thinker. And the impression you create in your conclusion will shape the impression that stays with your readers after they've finished the essay.

Think about how the poem relates to Poe's short story, "The Tell-Tale Heart." What are some similarities in that story and this
gayaneshka [121]

In his essay "The Importance of a Single Effect in a Prose Tale," Poe writes that he unifies a piece of writing around mood. He writes not primarily to develop a plot or a character but to convey a feeling or what he calls an "effect."

Most often in his stories, Poe wishes to convey a mood or "effect" of horror. He does this through description and imaginative details that relentlessly build up a sense of unsettling terror. For example, in "The Cask of Amontillado," the reader's awareness that Montresor is plotting revenge and the piling up of creepy details about the cold, damp, bone-filled catacombs through which he leads Fortunato builds a mounting sense of tension and deep unease. Similarly, the ebony clock that stops everyone cold when it ominously tolls the hour in "The Masque of the Red Death," reminding people of their mortality in the middle of a deadly plague, contributes to a sense of horror.

Poe also tightens his effects by using a claustrophobic writing style focused on very few characters and often narrated by a person who is troubled or unstable. Poe sometimes horrifies us by putting us into contact with a fevered mind trying to justify its heinous actions, as in "The Tell-tale Heart," or with a claustrophobic nightmare setting, such as that described by the first-person narrator of "The Pit and the Pendulum.

How does the narrator of "Everyday Use" see her two daughters differently?
Virty [35]

Answer: A. She sees Maggie as a shy girl who hides in the shadows, but she  thinks that Dee is a show-off who makes her opinions known.

Explanation:

<em>"Everyday Use"</em> is a short story which explores the relationship between a mother and her two daughters. It was written by Alice Walker and published in 1973.

The two sisters, Dee and Maggie, are quite different. Dee often shows arrogance and lack of sensitivity. While Maggie suffers from extreme shyness, Dee is confident and proud and is not afraid to express her opinion. Over the course of the story, Mama (the narrator of the story) describes Maggie as shy and makes it clear that she disapproves of Dee's superiority.
