Answer:

Roman law, the law of ancient Rome from the time of the founding of the city in 753 BCE until the fall of the Western Empire in the 5th century CE. It remained in use in the Eastern, or Byzantine, Empire until 1453. As a legal system, Roman law has affected the development of law in most of Western civilization as well as in parts of the East. It forms the basis for the law codes of most countries of continental Europe (see civil law) and derivative systems elsewhere.

Explanation:

The term Roman law today often refers to more than the laws of Roman society. The legal institutions evolved by the Romans had influence on the laws of other peoples in times long after the disappearance of the Roman Empire and in countries that were never subject to Roman rule. To take the most striking example, in a large part of Germany, until the adoption of a common code for the whole empire in 1900, the Roman law was in force as “subsidiary law”; that is, it was applied unless excluded by contrary local provisions. This law, however, which was in force in parts of Europe long after the fall of the Roman Empire, was not the Roman law in its original form. Although its basis was indeed the Corpus Juris Civilis—the codifying legislation of the emperor Justinian I—this legislation had been interpreted, developed, and adapted to later conditions by generations of jurists from the 11th century onward and had received additions from non-Roman sources.

The Great Railroad Strike of 1877:
lara31 [8.8K]

Answer:

D.ended when the workers, who lacked organized bargaining power, returned to work

Explanation:

Great Railroad Strike of 1877, was a result of reduction in wage of workers on Railroad work, which was caused by prolonged economic depression after the panic of 1873.

Announced by the Baltimore and Ohio (B&O), the railroad companies had taken advantage of the economic situation, with the determination to break the trade unions that had been formed by the workers before and after the American Civil War.

At the height of the struggle, the strikes was later subdued, for various reasons amongst which are:

1. The federal army did not break, by following order and staying together in the face of the militia. While the militas lacked effective leadership and coordination.

2. Despite the fears of the industrialists and the government, the workers lack organization amd methodical approach but rather spontaneous outbursts.

Hence, the moment their vituperations had run its course, so too did the revolts.

3. At some point, some of the workers, who lacked organized bargaining power, returned to work

How does each branch of the federal government "check" the other two branches?
liberstina [14]
The President in the executive branch can veto a law, but the legislative branch can override that veto with enough votes. The executive branch can declare Executive Orders, which are like proclamations that carry the force of law, but the judicial branch can declare those acts unconstitutional.
