It was unusual for women during Kate Chopin's time to be independent. Through her portrayal of Louise in "The Story of an Hour,"
fgiga [73]

The correct answer is:

There would be no one to live for during those coming years; she would live for herself. There would be no powerful will bending hers in that blind persistence with which men and women believe they have a right to impose a private will upon a fellow-creature. A kind intention or a cruel intention made the act seem no less a crime as she looked upon it in that brief moment of illumination.

Kate Chopin´s short story about the liberation Louise Mallard feels during the time transpired since the moment she hears that her husband is dead until she discovers that he is alive after all. That made "The Story of an Hour" very controversial at the time.

in the excerpt from Richard Wright's autobiography "Black boy" title "the rights to the streets of Memphis" what are 2 similes t
AlekseyPX

Answer:

In the excerpt from Richard Wright's autobiography "Black boy" title "the rights to the streets of Memphis" the 2 similes that describe the setting in some way are found in the following sentences:

1. "My mother finally went to work as a cook and left me and my brother alone in the flat each day with a loaf of bread and a pot of tea".

2. "Sometimes, when she was in despair, she would call us to her and talk us for hours, telling us that we now had no father, that our lives would be different from those of other children, that we must learn as soon as possible to take care of ourselves, to dress ourselves, to prepare our own food; that we must take upon ourselves the responsibility of the flat while she worked"

Explanation:

From the excerpt, there are similes in the above sentences that describe the setting of the story. It reveals that the family seem to be a single-parent family where the mother is left to cater for the children. The father has been away for sometime leaving the mother alone with the children. The mother gets a work as a cook in order to cater for the children.

This particular excerpt reveals the attitude of the mother in making her son fearless and to possess the ability to defend himself.

2. What effect do you think "The Hook" would have on teenagers in the 1950s? Why would this story probably not have the same eff
andreyandreev [35.5K]

Answer:

The effect I think "The Hook" would have on teenagers in the 1950s would be to not make out at random "Lover's Lane/Cove" type places. Their parents would not have wanted their kids to probably get pregnant and become parents at such young ages, so I guess these "Hook" stories worked in rural areas. Asylum and jail breakouts were common in those times without the types of technology they have today. With this being said, teenagers, today would not believe in this story. Also, I would say gun laws are more lenient than before, depending on a state by state cases, so people can defend themselves more easily. Also, video and live stream technology exist so teenagers today will have an assurance that the attacker will be caught if they are attacked.

Do you believe that it is possible to avoid the inevitable? Respond in a 4-6 Sentence Paragraph which illustrates correct gramma
Airida [17]

Answer:

You’re asking how to avoid something that’s unavoidable. Two things which are not avoidable are death and taxes. Everything else is pretty much susceptible to change or adjustment. Though scientists are now working hard to postpone the death situation through enhancing longevity of humans, so there’s just one thing left (taxes).
