Answer:

The answer is below

Step-by-step explanation:

Ava wants to know the distance JK across a pond. She locates points as shown. She says that the distance  across the pond must be 160 ft by the SSS Triangle Congruence Theorem.

Solution:

Two triangles are said to be congruent if they their three sides are equal and their three angles are equal.

From the image attached we can say that triangle LMN and triangle JNK are congruent since they have they share the same angle (∠N) and both of their sides are equal. This is the side, angle, side (SAS) congruence theorem.

Hence since they are congruent, JK = 160 feet by the SAS triangle congruence theorem.

Pratap Puri rowed 14 miles down a river in 2 hours, but the return trip took him 3 and one half hours. Find the rate Pratap can
SOVA2 [1]

speed of current is 1.5 mi/hr

Answer:

let the rate in still water be x and rate of the current be y.

speed down the river is:

speed=distance/time

speed=14/2=7 mi/h

speed up the river is:

speed=(14)/(3.5)=4 mi/hr

thus total speed downstream and upstream will be:

x+y=7...i

x-y=4.......ii

adding the above equations i and ii we get:

2x=11

x=5.5 mi/hr

thus

y=5-5.5=1.5 mi/r

thus the speed in still waters is 5.5 mi/hr

speed of current is 1.5 mi/hr

Determine whether the polynomial below can be factored into perfect squares. If so, factor the polynomial. Otherwise, select tha
kkurt [141]

Answer:

A. =(9x-12)^2

Step-by-step explanation:

We need to determine whether the polynomial 81x^2-216x+144 can be factored into perfect squares. If so, factor the polynomial. Otherwise, select that it cannot be factored into a perfect square.

81x^2-216x+144

=9(9x^2-24x+12)

=9(9x^2-12x-12x+12)

=9(3x(3x-4)-4(3x-4))

=9(3x-4)(3x-4)

=9(3x-4)^2

=3^2(3x-4)^2

=(3(3x-4))^2

=(9x-12)^2

Hence choice A. =(9x-12)^2 is correct.
