An ischemic stroke is the loss of brain tissue (cerebral infarction) brought on by insufficient oxygen and blood flow to the brain as a result of an arterial blockage. In patients with ischemic stroke, thrombolytic therapy must be started within three hours. If the patient underwent surgery within the last 14 days, she is not qualified for thrombolytic therapy. Labetalol and digoxin do not preclude thrombolytic treatment.
