Answer:

This was what he had thought:

Arawak men and women, naked, tawny, and full of wonder, emerged from their villages onto the island's beaches and swam out to get a closer look at the strange big boat. When Columbus and his sailors came ashore, carrying swords, speaking oddly, the Arawaks ran to greet them, brought them food, water, gifts.Arawak men and women, naked, tawny, and full of wonder, emerged from their villages onto the island's beaches and swam out to get a closer look at the strange big boat. When Columbus and his sailors came ashore, carrying swords, speaking oddly, the Arawaks ran to greet them, brought them food, water, gifts. He later wrote of this in his log:

They ... brought us parrots and balls of cotton and spears and many other things, which they exchanged for the glass beads and hawks' bells. They willingly traded everything they owned... . They were well-built, with good bodies and handsome features.... They do not bear arms, and do not know them, for I showed them a sword, they took it by the edge and cut themselves out of ignorance. They have no iron. Their spears are made of cane... . They would make fine servants.... With fifty men we could subjugate them all and make them do whatever we want.

Unlike the trade routes of the the classical era, the Internet does not limit the extent to which items can be traded in a certain network--meaning that things can be traded between practically any two locations on the globe with an internet connection.

The actions of the Federal Reserve during President Carter’s term resulted in
liubo4ka [24]

Correct answer:  A) Americans paying higher interest rates on home and car loans.

President Jimmy Carter struggled against a bad economy in the United States during his time in office (Jan, 1977- Jan, 1981).  When he entered office, the country was experiencing "stagflation" -- a combination of inflation and minimal economic growth.  The actions of the Federal Reserve Board, under chairman G. William Miller, contributed to further inflation problems.  The inflation rate went from 5.8% in 1976 to 7.7% in 1978.  That meant that interest rates for home loans and car loans for American consumers got steeper and more difficult to afford.  Then in 1979, the oil crisis hit as world oil production dropped in the wake of the Iranian Revolution.  In 1979, inflation in the US went up to 11.3%.  That only made matters worse.

In 1979, President Carter replaced Miller as chairman of the Federal Reserve, appointing Paul Volcker in his place.  Volcker continued to serve in that role under the Reagan administration also, and played a large role in bringing inflation back under control.

Why did direct democracy work for the ancient Greek city of Athens?
Mumz [18]

Answer:

They had a Senate.

Explanation:

The Senate consisted of representatives of every rank on the social pyramid of Athens, (except for slaves and women). Then they would make laws together and decide if go to a war or not. That's a direct democracy there is a main leader but he can be taken out and put by someone else, the Senate had much more power than the leader. That's why they succeeded on how to negotiate and act on a war.
