Answer

Europe saw the colonization of Africa as an opportunity to acquire a surplus population, thus settler colonies were created. With this invasion, many European countries saw Africa as being available to their disposal.

European countries realised that by taking control of African territories they could secure a very cheap supply of raw materials that would ensure industrial success and overall economic prosperity. Colonial governments organised agricultural production in the colonies to match the demand for raw materials in Europe.

What led to the beginning ir world war ii in europe and germany's early successes?
julia-pushkina [17]

WWII was a result of Adolf Hitler's failed gamble regarding the Polish Corridor separating Konigsberg from the German homeland. His first gamble involved Austria whose 99% of the population supposedly voted to join the country in a union with Germany in 1938 in a referendum made when the Fuhrer put pressure on the Austrian chancellor. The second gamble was in the Sudetenland, a part of Czechoslovakia, which Adolf Hitler claimed because of the ethnic Germans living in the area. In fact Germany already had an invasion plan (Case Green) in place, which even the German commanders feared to implement because of their country's unpreparedness for war. Fortunately for Adolf Hitler (and unfortunately for everyone, in hindsight) France, UK and Italy decided to intervene and "persuaded" Czechoslovakia to cede the Sudetenland to Germany leading to UK Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain's famous "peace in our time" speech. Emboldened by the fact that France and UK did nothing, Adolf Hitler made a third gamble: this time against the Polish Corridor and it failed since two days later after the invasion of Poland (September 03, 1939) France and UK declared war against Germany and thus WWII in Europe begun.

Which of the following were civil rights leaders during the 1960’s( select all that apply)
quester [9]

Answer:

- MLK Jr

- Malcolm X

- W.E.B. Dubois

Explanation:

During the 1960's there were numerous important African Americans that were leading social rights movements. Also, this was the decade where most of the stopped with their activity, some because of natural death, while some because they got assassinated. Martin Luther King Jr is the most famous and probably the most important of these leaders of social rights movements. He was not a man that called for aggression, but instead wanted everything to be sorted out in a peaceful and civilized manner, and the African Americans to get their rights. W.E.B. Dubois was also a very important figure, though he had his moments in both the more peaceful propagating and the more violent one. Malcolm X was a great intellectual, but unfortunately, he became part of an extremist organization which was propagating violence in order to get to the required rights. W.E.B. Dubois died of natural causes, while Martin Luther King Jr and Malcolm X were assassinated.
