This caused violent riots that made people seek refuge in other places. When the narrator visited the orchard only to realize that the staff Ramai was gone, the orchard suddenly became unnervingly silent.

The narrator decided to release the parrot and let it fly but he observed that the parrot was reluctant to fly. This made him reflect on how the orchard which used to be a relaxation now became frightening thus making people seek refuge in other places.
