jarptica [38.1K]

It was Friday afternoon in September and the detective stepped over the police tape. “Click, click, click”  the sound of the detectives’ camera echoed in Nick’s head. The night of the murder,  Nick was gazing out the window bored out of his mind. Nick fell asleep on the window seal. He was awoken by a woman’s scream. Terrified and curious, Nick slipped on his rain boots, and rain jacket. Rummaging through his cluttered drawer, he finally found his flashlight. Trying to be quiet as possible he made his way through the hall and out the door, quietly closing it after him. As Nick was walking, someone darted past him from where he had heard the scream. Nick shouted, “Hey wait!” The man stopped and turned his head to look at Nick. Nick stared at the man like he was in a trance. The mans eyes looked frightened, but his face reminded Nick of the devil, and a cut on his cheek looked fresh. The man looked away and disappeared down a nearby alley. Nick raced over to  the vacant lot where he had heard the scream. Nick heard a hoarse voice “help”. Nick was looking around him, shining his flashlight. Suddenly he saw something glistening in the light of his flashlight in the distance. As he got closer that's when Nick had noticed it was blood from the woman lying on the ground clutching her side. She had been stabbed. In shock, Nick dropped his flashlight. The flashlight clattered on the pavement, rolled and bumped into the womans’ leg. Nick ran as fast as he could to his house and into his mothers’ bedroom trying to explain what he had just witnessed, while trying to catch his breath at the same time, so it didn't make any sense. “Nick calm down,” said his mother. “It was just a bad dream,'' she said. So Nick went upstairs to his bedroom and went to sleep. In the morning he was awoken to crying, shouting, and talking outside of his window. Nick rushed outside to see what was going on. Sure enough he had seen the shape of a body under a white sheet. The detective stepped over the police tape “click, click, click.” Guess it wasn't just a bad dream after all
