Answer:

Both the characters of the two stories act out of their want to impress or 'attract' the famous girl in school.

Explanation:

The short story "Seventh Grade" by Gary Soto tells the story of how seventh-grader Victor tries to impress and be close to a girl he liked, Teresa. So, all of his acts, like getting into French class, were all to impress Teresa and become close to her, with him admitting <em>"Teresa is going to be my girl this year"</em>.

Likewise, Jerry Spinelli's "Stargirl Caraway" also involves a lovestruck Leo Borlock who wants to impress Stargirl, a famous student in their Mica High School. He can't seem to stop thinking about her and wanted to do everything to get her attention. Confessing that he is falling in love with her, he said<em> "I wanted to know everything about her. I wanted to see her baby pictures. I wanted to watch her eating breakfast, wrapping a gift, sleeping"</em>.

And in both cases, the characters Victor and Leo tried to best entertain, impress, and get acquainted/ close to the girls they like. Moreover, they are also stuck in a dilemma over where they stand. for Victor, it is whether to reveal the true nature of his French ability while for Leo, it was a question of whether he wants to stick with Stargirl or go along with the larger crowd (the students) and conform to the group.

Answer:

Both characters in “Seventh Grade” and “Stargirl” are similar because they both seem to feel nervous around a certain girl at their school (even though its for different reasons).
