2. A ski lodge offers two weekend packages. Package A provides 2 nights and 3 meals for $280. Package B provides 2 nights and 5

meals for $320. Write and solve a system of equations to find the costs per night and per meal. (Assume the cost per night and cost per meal are the same for both packages.) Use n to represent the cost per night and m to represent the cost of each meal. (8 points)
Step 1: The equation representing package A is given. Complete the system of equations by writing an equation to represent package B. (1 point)

Package A: 2n + 3m = 280
Package B: ___________________

Step 2: Select a method for solving the system. Which method did you choose? Why? (2 points)

Step 3: Solve the system of equations to find the costs per night and per meal. Show your work.(3 points)

Step 4: Explain the meaning of the solutions for m and n. (2 points: 1 point each)

Answer:

1st formula 2n + 3m = 280

2nd formula 2n + 5m = 320

rearrange 1st formula to equal n:

   2n = -3m + 280

    n = -3/2 m + 140

rearrange 2nd formula to equal n:

2n = -5m + 320

n = -5/2m + 160

so now you have

-3/2m + 140 = -5/2m + 160

Rearrange to become:

-3/2m + 5/2m = 160 - 140

m = 20

Now place 20 into the very 1st equation in place of the letter m

2n + 3(20) = 280

2n + 60 = 280

2n = 220

n = 110

so it costs $110 per night, $20 per meal

Answer:

g(x) is shifted 4 units left and 6 units down from f(x).

Step-by-step explanation:

The parent function is:

f(x).

The child function is:

g(x) = f(x+4) - 6

Transformation 1:

g(x) = f(x+4)

Shifting a function f(x) a units to the left is finding f(x + a). So g(x) = f(x + 4) is f(x) shifted 4 units to the left.

Transformation 2:

g(x) = f(x+4) - 6

Subtracting a function f(x) by a constant a is the same as shifting the function a units down. So subtracting by 6 is shifting the function 6 units down. Thus, the correct answer is:

g(x) is shifted 4 units left and 6 units down from f(x).

Find the sum of 997 + 992 + 987 +...+ 257 +252
Vikentia [17]

Answer:

  93,675

Step-by-step explanation:

We see that the given sequence is an arithmetic sequence with first term 997, common difference -5, and last term 252.

The number of terms in the sequence (n) can be found from the formula for the n-th term:

  an = a1 +d(n -1)

  (an -an)/d +1 = n

  (252 -997)/(-5) +1 = n = 150

The sum of these terms is the average of the first and last terms, multiplied by the number of terms:

  S150 = (997 +252)/2·150 = 93,675

The sequence sum is 93,675.

A rectangular deck is 12 ft by 14 ft. When the length and width are increased by the same amount, the area becomes 288 sq. ft. B
alexdok [17]
To solve this problem you must apply the proccedure shown below:

 1. You have the following information given in the problem above:

 - The<span> rectangular deck has the following dimensions: 12 ft by 14 ft.
 - When the length and width are increased by the same amount, the area becomes 288 ft</span>².

 2. Therefore, you have:

 A=bxh

 288=(12x)(14x)
 288=168x²

 3. When you clear the x, you obtain:

 x=√288/168
 x=(2√21)/7≈1.31
