It was not considered humane, because it was used for revenge to kill any one who showed signs of being witches or
Doing any magical things, and it was used to punish people who did bad crimes or even no crimes at all!

Punish for aggressive acts--the trials were an international means of punishing those involved in violent and unjust acts leading to and during World War II.
