Given:

The arithmetic sequence is

__, __, 6, __, 15, __, 24, ...

To find:

The missing values and the nth term of the sequence.

Solution:

The nth term of an arithmetic sequence is

a_n=a+(n-1)d         ...(1)

Where, a is the first term and d is the common difference.

3rd term of the sequence is 6.

a_3=a+(3-1)d

6=a+2d            ...(i)

5th term of the sequence is 15

a_5=a+(5-1)d

15=a+4d            ...(ii)

Subtracting (i) from (ii), we get

15-6=a+4d-a-2d

9=2d

\dfrac{9}{2}=d

4.5=d

Putting d=4.5 in (i), we get

6=a+2(4.5)

6=a+9

6-9=a

-3=a

Putting a=-3 and d=4.5 in equation (1).

a_n=-3+(n-1)4.5

a_n=-3+4.5n-4.5

a_n=4.5n-7.5

The nth term of the given arithmetic sequence is a_n=4.5n-7.5.

For n=1,

a_1=4.5(1)-7.5

a_1=4.5-7.5

a_1=-3

For n=2,

a_2=4.5(2)-7.5

a_2=9-7.5

a_2=1.5

For n=4,

a_4=4.5(4)-7.5

a_4=18-7.5

a_4=10.5

For n=6,

a_6=4.5(6)-7.5

a_6=27-7.5

a_6=19.5

The missing values are -3, 1.5, 10.5, 19.5 respectively. So, the complete arithmetic sequence is -3, 1.5, 6, 10.5, 15, 19.5, 24, ... .

The coordinate of point V is at (-16, 9)

If Point T(-9,5) lies on the perpendicular bisector of UV, this means that the point divides the line UV into two equal parts

Given the following coordinates

Midpoint T = (-9, 5)

U = (-2, 1)

Required

coordinate of point V

Using the midpoint formulas;

T(x, y) = (\frac{x_1+x_2}{2}, \frac{y_1+y_2}{2}) \\T(-9, 5) = (\frac{-2+x_2}{2}, \frac{1+y_2}{2})

Get the value if x₂ and y₂

-9 = \frac{-2+x_2}{2}\\-18 = -2+x_2\\x_2 = -18+2\\x_2 = -16\\

Similarly;

5 = \frac{1+y_2}{2}\\10 = 1+y_2\\y_2 = 10-1\\y_2 = 9\\

Hence the coordinate of point V is at (-16, 9)

Three times each day, a quality engineer samples a component from a recently manufactured batch and tests it. Each part is class
Tresset [83]

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

Hello!

Three samples of components manufactured are taken per day. They are classified as:

D: "Conforming (suitable for its use)"

E: "Downgraded (unsuitable for the intended purpose but usable for another purpose)"

F: "Scrap (not usable)"

This classification includes the three events that may occur in your sample space S. The experiment consists in recording the categories of the three parts tested in a day.

a. List the 27 outcomes in the sample space.

The possible outcomes in the space sample are the combinations of the three events. To avoid using the same letters as in the following questions I've named the evets as D, E, and F

S={DDD, DED, DFD, DEF, DFE, DEE, DFF, DDE, DDF , EDE, EEE, EFE, EED, EEF, EDF, EFD, EDD, EFF , FDF, FEF, FFF, FFE, FFD, FDE, FED, FDD, FEE}

b. Let A be the event that all the parts fall into the same category. List the outcomes in A.

A: "All the parts fall into the same category"

You have three possible outcomes for this event, that the three compounds are conforming, "DDD", that the three are unconforming, "EEE", or that the three compounds are scrap, "FFF". There are only three possible outcomes for this event.

S={DDD, EEE, FFF}

c. Let B be the event that there is one part in each category. List the outcomes in B.

B: "There is a part in each category"

This means, for example, The first one is conforming "D", the second one is unconforming "E" and the third one is scrap "F", then the first one may be unconforming "E", the second one is conforming "D" and the thirds one is scrap "F", and so on, you have 6 possible outcomes for this event:

S={DEF, DFE, EDF, EFD, FDE, FED}

d. Let C be the event that at least two parts are conforming. List the outcomes in C.

C: "At least two parts are conforming"

For this event, you can have two of the compounds to be considered conforming or the three of them.

S={DDD, DED, DFD, DDE, DDF , EDD, FDD}

A total of 7 combinations fit this event.

I hope you have a SUPER day!

Let a = x^2 + 4. Rewrite the following equation in terms of a and set it equal to zero. ( x^2 + 4 )^2 +32 = 12x^2 + 48
Aleks04 [339]
Answer:  In the resulting equation:  " a² - 12a + 32 = 0 " ;
________________________________________________________
  The "coefficient" of the "a" term is:  " - 12" .
________________________________________________________
  The "constant" is:  " 32 " .
________________________________________________________

Explanation:

________________________________________________________

Let:   "a = x² + 4 " .

Given:  (x² + 4)²  + 32  =  12x² + 48  ;
______________________________________________________

Factor:  "12x² + 48" into " (x² + 4) " ;

"12x² + 48"  =  12 (x² + 4) " ;
______________________________________________________

Given:    (x² + 4)²  + 32  =  12x² + 48 ;

rewrite as;  "a² + 32 = 12a " ;

Subtract "12a" from each side of the equation;

"a² + 32 - 12a = 12a - 12a ;

to get:

" a² - 12a + 32 = 0 " .
___________________________________________________
The coefficient of the "a" term;  that is:

The "coefficient" of " -12a" ;  is:  "- 12" .

The constant is:  "32<span>" .
