Which of the following was one of the reasons why the U.S. pursued imperialist policies?
Ne4ueva [31]

The correct answer is D. The achievement of Manifest Destiny and the need for a "New American Frontier". The Manifest Destiny was an american philosphy from the 19th century that stated it was America's right, given by God, to expand and conquer other territories. In this period, imperialism was increasing at a global level and United States didn't want to be left behind of this imperalist race. The idea of the New american frontier was to expand the settled area as the first americans had started to do when they got to the new continet. The frontier had actually been changed by events like the Louisiana purchase but there was always a new frontier they wanted to reach.

To what extent were the lives of African-Americans changed during the 1950's?
son4ous [18]

Answer:

The 1950s were a decade marked by the post-World War II boom, the dawn of the Cold War and the Civil Rights movement in the United States. “America at this moment,” said the former British Prime Minister Winston Churchill in 1945, “stands at the summit of the world.” During the 1950s, it was easy to see what Churchill meant. The United States was the world’s strongest military power. Its economy was booming, and the fruits of this prosperity–new cars, suburban houses and other consumer goods–were available to more people than ever before. However, the 1950s were also an era of great conflict. For example, the nascent civil rights movement and the crusade against communism at home and abroad exposed the underlying divisions in American society.

Why did the United States government place price controls on petroleum companies in the early 1970s?\
Irina-Kira [14]
They placed a price control on petroleum companies because the oil crisis was getting out of hand. There was an embargo on countries that produced oil and on oil trading and prices were skyrocketing, going up from 3$ per barrel to a 12$ per barrel, and even more in many countries. Without the price regulations the prices could go even higher and the oil industry could collapse because people wouldn't buy oil.
