Explanation:

Thuderous silence is an oxymoron because an oxymoron is when two word are the opposite of each other but are still together. So thunderous silence is an oxymoron because thunder is loud but silence is the opposite. Dearly departed is euphemism becuase euphemism is when you say something without saying it directly. So this is euphemism because it is saying that they are dearly departd instead of directly saying, they died. Happy memory is personification because personification is when you give something non-living a human attribute or emotion. Here it is personification because you are giving the memory and emotion and saying it is a happy memory. Lastly, cool as ice is a simile. This is a simile because a simile is a figure of speech that compares to things that are not the same. Just like here when it is said that they are as cool as ice.

What is meter in poetry? Give examples
Brilliant_brown [7]
Meter is a unit of rhythm in poetry, the pattern of the beats. It is also called a foot. Each foot has a certain number of syllables in it, usually two or three syllables. The difference in types of meter is which syllables are accented and which are not. Smiling frog as examples of meter in poetry. Example: Shall I compare thee to a summer's day? (iambic pentameter) Once upon a midnight dreary, while I pondered, weak and weary, (trochaic octameter)
