Most of this region lies above 6,000 feet in elevation. It stretches from theMediterranean coast of France, across Switzerland a
nd Germany, to theDanube in Austria. This physical feature was created about 65 million yearsago when the Eurasian and African tectonic plates collided.
The highest mountain ranges of Europe is the Alps mountain range. It is one of the most extensive mountain ranges system in the world. It stretches across eight alpine countries. They are France, Italy, Switzerland, Germany, Monaco, Slovenia, Liechtenstein and Austria.
It is formed around 65 million years ago due to the collision of the Eurasian tectonic plates and the African tectonic plates. It stretches in southeast direction from France through Switzerland and into Austria. Its elevation is about 6,000 feet.
