The South did not like the American System at all. They thought that it only benefited the North. They didn't like the protective tariff because much of their economy was based on trading with Britain. The tariff made import and exporting goods more expensive with left the southerners with less money.
Hope it helps
Adolf Hitler's 1941 invasion of the Soviet Union met with many of the same disastrous consequences as Napoleon Bonaparte's previous 1812 summer invasion of the country then known as Russia. Napoleon's attack on Russia, with what was most likely the largest armed force assembled in Europe up to that time, was virtually destroyed by the onset of the Russian winter's freezing temperatures, a lack of food supplies and successful Russian counterattacks. A similar fate befell Hitler's 1941 summer offensive against the Soviet Union when major miscalculations regarding the logistical challenges of the vast territory involved and the hostile Russian winter terrain led to crippling food and fuel shortages
Combatants may of course be attacked unless they are out of action, i.e. hors de combat. Civilians are protected from attack but lose this protection during any period in which they take a direct part in hostilities. The protection of civilians applies to both enemy civilians and one's own civilians.
During the 1980s Microsoft adopted the Bell Curve Employee assessment tool, also known as 'Stack Ranking'
The system forced each department to assess their employees at the end of the year and grade them under 'top-performers', 'average' 'below-average' and 'poor'
The idea was to 'cull' employees that were not contributing and ensure high-performers get bonuses and promotions.
The system worked very well in the 80s and the 90s.
However, Microsoft's decline in the 2000s against apple was sharp and many ex-employees of Microsoft point to the 'stack ranking' system that eventually paved the way for internal politics rather than innovation.
