Town of Sad

I'm walking the sidewalk,
in the middle of town.
My head is quite heavy,
it's pointing straight down.

I do not wish,
to look straight ahead.
My body and mind,
just feels beyond dead.

An intersection,
I finally reach,
Where I'm welcomed,
with a horrible screech.

Right or left,
I'm asked to choose.
But I continue along the sidewalk,
change I refuse.

My sidewalk is covered,
with sorrow an dirt.
I'm loyal to this street,
it's simply called hurt.

As I continue,
my pain sadly grows.
The shoes I'm wearing,
are called blue woes.

There seems like there's no end,
or slight hope in sight.
This lonely town,
forever has night.

It's just so difficult,
for me to leave.
As I raise my head,
I cannot believe.

A rusty sign,
with the name of the town.
It reads, "Sad",
and it's pointing straight down.

Read the passage from "Names/Nombres" by Julia Alvarez. She was plain Anne – that is, only her name was plain, for she turned ou
Vera_Pavlovna [14]

Answer:

Later, during her college years in the late sixties, there was a push to pronounce Third World names correctly.

Explanation:

In the narrative, Julia moved from Dominican to NY, together with her family. It was amazing that most people used to mispronounce the name of the family. For instance, when her family arrived in the immigration office, the officer would be able to mispronounce it. Julia is so eager to correct the officer from uttering the words wrongly, and she instead repeats it herself so that the officer gets the correct pronunciation.

Which passage from the story best shows how the mothers attitude toward Gregor has changed?
sergejj [24]

Answer:

A.

Explanation:

Option A is the one that best shows how the mother's attitude towards Gregor has changed. In this passage, we learn that Gregor's mother is alarmed by Grete's words, which motivates her to look at Gregor. Gregor, however, has already turned into an insect, which shocks the mother. She screams and falls onto the couch. This clearly shows that the mother's attitude towards Gregor has changed.
