svet-max [94.6K]

According to the description in the graph, we can say that the Philippines was a nation with difficulties, but it achieved economic stability, as shown in the penultimate answer option.

We can arrive at this answer because:

  • The GDP reveals the economic wealth of a country.
  • As we can see in the graph, the GDP of the Philippines was very low at the beginning of the country, reaching close to zero in 1960.
  • This shows that the country's economy was very bad, which created great difficulties for citizens.
  • However, we can see that the GDP got bigger and bigger over time, reaching 200 billion dollars in 2010.

A GDP of 200 billion dollars refers to an average wealth economy. This means that the Philippines is not the richest country in the world, but it has a stabilized economy that can promote a standard of living for its inhabitants.

What figurative language is used in the lady or the tiger
Taya2010 [7]

Answer:

Figurative language is any kind of language or figure of speech that does not employ the literal meaning. Certainly, author Frank R. Stockton uses figurative language in his narrative.

Examples of figurative language are in italics:

In the exposition, Stockton employs exaggeration and irony in his description of the kingdom and the semi-barbaric king, a man of "exuberant fancy and of an authority so irresistible that, at his will, he turned his varied fancies into facts."

The king's "exuberant fancy" is a figure of speech for his ideas about how to punish those who commit crimes. His authority is only "irresistible" because he is king and he cruelly enforces his rules. He has an "exuberant fancy" that he exercises: his public arena in which there are exhibitions of man against beast. These exhibitions are used as part of his impartial and incorruptible chance." This "chance" involves the choice that the accused makes between one door of the arena or another. One of the doors holds a deadly lion and the other one holds a maiden that the accused marries (whether he is already married or not).

Clearly, the use of figurative language in the story "The Lady, or the Tiger?" lends a greater impact upon the characterization of the "semi-barbaric" king and princess, as well as having an interesting influence upon the interpretation of the story.

What is more important in a person's life, the choices a person makes, or the circumstances into which they are born? This is a
victus00 [196]

When it comes to the outcome of a person's life, it is impossible to definitely establish which is more important: the choices a person makes or the circumstances into which they are born. This greatly depends on the type of person, their context, the type of society they are born into, and the people who surround him. However, in order to provide an example, I would be inclined to argue that the circumstances people are born into play a larger role:

<em>"I believe this factor is more important because the circumstances into which you are born determine your childhood. When you are a child, you have very little agency. This makes it impossible for you to make life-altering decisions about your own person. Instead, your parents and your community are responsible for your development. </em>

<em>When a child is abused, neglected, or damaged in some other way, he is a lot less able to develop in a healthy way. This often causes the child to fall behind when compared to his peers. This not only applies to academics, but also to more abstract subjects such as emotional stability, motivation, imagination, dreams, self-confidence, etc. The impact of this damage can make it very difficult for a person to recover as an adult, therefore making it difficult for him to make good choices for his future."  </em>
