Answer:

y = (x + 1)(x - 0.586) ( x - 3.414)

Step-by-step explanation:

I sure wouldn't recommend doing this by trial and error.

I made a graph of which you can see. Every time this monster touches the x axis and speeds away upward is two equal roots of y. So the square root would be one of each of them.

y = (x + 1)^2 (x - 0.586)^2 (x - 3.414)^2

are the listed roots.

The square root is

y = (x + 1)(x - 0.586) ( x - 3.414)

Do I know that this is right? I don't. But I can tell you this: if you multiply 1^2 * (-0.586)^2 * (- 3.414)^2

you get 4 just as you should. Amazing that we have tools that do that sort of thing.

h(x)=x 2 −1h, left parenthesis, x, right parenthesis, equals, x, squared, minus, 1 Over which interval does h hh have a negative
Semenov [28]

Answer:

(C)−3 ≤ x ≤ 1

Step-by-step explanation:

The average rate of change of function h over the interval a \leq x\leq b, is given by this expression:

\dfrac{h(b)-h(a)}{b-a}

Given the function h(x)=x^2-1 on the interval:− 3 ≤ x ≤ 1

h(1)=1^2-1=0\\h(-3)=(-3)^2-1=9-1=8

The average rate of change:

\dfrac{h(b)-h(a)}{b-a}=\dfrac{0-8}{1-(-3)}=\dfrac{-8}{4}=-2

Therefore, the function has a negative average rate of change over the interval − 3 ≤ x ≤ 1.

CHECK:

(A)Average rate of change of h(x) over the interval − 3 ≤ x ≤ 5=2

(B)Average rate of change of h(x) over the interval 1 ≤ x ≤ 4=5

(D)Average rate of change of h(x) over the interval − 1 ≤ x ≤ 5=4

Nick and his cousin Sara have the same birthday, but Nick is four years older than Sara. Let the variable X relresent Nick's age
Ronch [10]

Answer:

Let X represent Nick's age and Y represent Sara's age.

Then, it is given that: Nick is four years older than Sara.

We write the statement as:

X=4+Y

or Y=X-4

The only ordered pairs (X,Y) which satisfy the equation are: (0,-4) and (4,0) as you can see in the graph also.

In the graph X axis represents the age of Nick's age and Y-axis represent the age of Sara's age and the line Y=X-4 represents the relationship between the age of both.

If c(x) = 4x − 2 and d(x) = x² + 5x, what is (c.d)(x)?
snow_lady [41]

Answer:

4x^2+20x-2

Step-by-step explanation:

To find (c.g)(x) we basically use the function d(x) as your variable, x, and plug it into c(x). So we replace every x in c(x) with the function d(x), x^{2} +5x

c(g(x))=4(x^{2} +5x)-2

c(g(x))4x^2+20x-2
