Mariana [72]

Red-green colorblindness is inherited as a sex-linked recessive trait. the gene is found on the x chromosome. - The gene for color vision is linked to the X chromosome.

What is Colorblindness ?

Color blindness (color vision deficiency) is the decreased ability to see color or differences in color. It can impair tasks such as selecting ripe fruit, choosing clothing, and reading traffic lights. However, issues are generally minor, and the colorblind automatically develop adaptations and coping mechanisms. People with total color blindness (achromatopsia) may also be uncomfortable in bright environments and have decreased visual acuity.

What is red-green colorblind ?

Red-green color blindness includes Protan and Deutan CVD. Protan CVD is related to the L-cone and includes protanomaly (anomalous trichromacy) and protanopia (dichromacy). Deutan CVD is related to the M-cone and includes deuteranomaly (anomalous trichromacy) and deuteranopia (dichromacy).

 • Both forms are almost always congenital (genetic) and sex-linked.
 • It affects males more than females. This form of colorblindness is sometimes referred to as Daltonism (John Dalton) who had red-green dichromacy.
