Read the following summary of The Book of job from the Bible: God believes that Job is a humble and devout man. Satan, however,

challenges God, saying that job is virtuous and moral only because God blessed him with good fortune. Satan makes a bet with God that if Job experiences suffering his devotion will falter and he will curse God. A series of disasters strike Job's life. All of his children die, his livestock dies, most of his servants are killed, and he is left with nothing. Job is devastated, but he doesn't blame God for the tragedies. Satan then plans another test for Job. He is struck with a horrible skin disease. Three of Job's friends arrive to comfort him, and Job finally questions the injustice done to him. His friends enticize him for challenging God's will. They suggest that his misfortune is probably a result of some sin he committed. Job replies that he is innocent and pleads for a fair hearing from God. God answers Job's challenge by asking him if he can do the things that God can after which Job apologizes. Finally. God scolds Job's companions and restores Job's life, giving him back his children and twice as much wealth as he had before. How is the character of Ebenezer Scrooge similar to job? O A. Scrooge and job are patient and devout men who learn greater humility. OB. Scrooge and Job go through experiences that make them change their outlook on life. OC Scrooge and Job believe that they are better than other people because of their good fortune. OD. Scrooge and job believe they have done no wrong and their suffering is unjust. O E. Scrooge and job feel left out of God's plans and therefore don't owe him any loyalty.

A: Scrooge devout? What planet is that true on. Not A.

B: I would take B, but it is not a terrific choice.

C: Job never believes he is better than anyone. He was not created that way.

D: Scrooge comes to realize that he did a great deal that he has to answer for. He believes Marley implicitly. Job would never believe that the auithor of all Justice is unjust. Not D.

E: I won't bother to disqualify E. Examine Job's motives more closely. He will never abandon God. It's an outrage to think so.

How can rhetorical comparisons be used in persuasive writing?
gavmur [86]
Rhetoric usually works through the emotive, or rhetorical force of words and phrases—the emotional associations they express and elicit. Rhetoric is used to influence our beliefs and attitudes. In fact, rhetoric can be more effective than argument when it comes to influencing someone’s belief’s and attitudes. But it shouldn’t be. Rhetoric may be psychologically powerful, but by itself it establishes nothing.
