Babylonian exile is the event that happened after the Jewish state was conquered by the New Babylonian Empire during the reign of Nebuchadnezzar, during which Jews were expelled from their land.

Explanation:

This happened at the beginning of the 6th Century BC during the period of New Babylonian Empire. The country was conquered and devastated and Jews were held in captivity for a couple of decades. Jews were suffering greatly during this period, but managed to preserve their culture and religion. This captivity ended when Persian ruler Cyrus conquered Babylonian Empire.
