People tried to make sense of birth, life, death, and everything in between. They were trying to find the rules of survival. The

y were looking for ways to control the world around them. It gave them a psychological tool to transcend their fears. If they pleased the right god, or followed a prescribed action all would be made right. If it was not, then it was their failure or the anger of the god. They developed a complex mythology that tried to explain all causes and effects.
