  If the geographers study just the location and dimensions of a certain place than they only have two information's, but will lack all the answers for the reasons for the location of the place and the dimensions it has, how it has formed, what contributed to its forming, what the composition is, what can be expected in the future considering all the factors etc.

  So basically, the geographers study more than just these two aspects because they do not get the full picture, but only the tip of the iceberg, and that is not how geography works.
