For the 1,000-meter running event, Abby's mean time is 4.5 minutes with a standard deviation of 0.75 minutes. For the 800-meter

event, Abby's mean time is 3.2 minutes with a standard deviation of 0.4 minutes. In the last track meet, Abby ran the 1,000-meter race in 4.1 minutes and the 800-meter race in 3 minutes. In which event did Abby have a better performance?

Answer:

He performed better in the 800 m race

Step-by-step explanation:

Obtain the standardized score for each event :

Zscore = (score - mean) / standard deviation

1000 meter :

Mean = 4.5 ; Standard deviation = 0.75 ; x = 4.1

Zscore = (4.1 - 4.5) / 0.75

Zscore = - 0.4 / 0.75 = - 0.5333

800 meter :

Mean = 3.2 ; Standard deviation = 0.4 ; x = 3

Zscore = (3 - 3.2) / 0.4

Zscore = - 0.2 / 0.4 = - 0.5

-0.5 > - 0.533

Hence, he performed better in the 800 m race

If x varies directly as y, and x=18 when y=6 find x when y= 10!!!!!!
tensa zangetsu [6.8K]
First thing you need to do is find your k in y = kx

So to do that insert 18 for x and 6 for y and then solve for k
y = kx
6 = k18
6/18 = k18 /18
1 / 3 = k
k = 1 /3
So now that we know what k is we can find x when y = 10. Once again insert the numbers we know. We know k = 1/3 and y = 10 and we need to find x
y = kx
10 = (1/3)x
3* 10 =  3*(1/3)x
30 = x
x = 30

The room is a cube with edge length 11 feet including the ceiling in the floor how much surface area must be painted
Xelga [282]
Answer: 726cm squared

Surface area is the area of all the faces added together.

If the area of one face is 11x11=121

Because it is a cube and it has six faces with the same surface area we do 121x6=726 to give us the total surface area.
