Explanation:

After the U.S. acquired land from the Louisiana Purchase, there was a need to properly ascertain the land that had been acquired and so Lewis and Clark were commissioned to do this.

Their expedition introduced the Americans to many plants, animals and Native tribes that were recorded by the expedition. Lewis and Clark produced an accurate map to get to the Pacific ocean and with the discovery of the many tribes and people, new territory for lumber and fur trade were opened up.
