Which set of polar coordinates names the same point as (-5,pi/4)

In general, in polar coordinates (r, ω) = (-r, ω+π), because when you add π radians to an angle you are turning 180 degrees and then need to change the sign of the radius to preserve the original point.

Then (-5, π/4) = (5 , π/4 + π) = (5, 5π/4)

Answer: (5, 5π/4)

jill's fish weighs 8 times as much as her parakeet. together, the pets weigh 63 ounce. how much does the fish weigh?

1. Jill’s fish weighs 8 times as much as her parakeet.
Together they weigh 63 ounce.
Find the weight of the fish.
=> Jill’s Fish = 8x
=> Parakeet = x
Equation:
=> 8x + x = 63
=> 9x = 63
=> 9x / 9 = 63 / 9
=> 7 ounce
Thus the weight of fish = 8(7)
=> 56 ounce
Which is 8 times as much as parakeet which is 7
=> 56 + 7 = 63 ounce

The area of a trapezoid with height z is 20 sq .cm. The length s of the parallel sides are (2z+3) and (6z-1) cm. Find the height
const2013 [10]

Answer:

Area of a trapezoid = ½(a + b)h, where a and b are the lengths of the parallel sides and h is its height.

From your information 20 = ½(2z + 3 + 6z – 1)z = ½(8z + 2)z = z(4z + 1)

Solve 20 = 4z² + z which is 0 = 4z² + z – 20 using the quadratic formula

What is the radius of a circle with the equation x^2+y^2+6x-2y+3?
atroni [7]

Answer:

r = √13

Step-by-step explanation:

Starting with x^2+y^2+6x-2y+3, group like terms, first x terms and then y terms:  x^2 + 6x            + y^2 -2y             = 3.  Please note that there has to be an " = " sign in this equation, and that I have taken the liberty of replacing " +3" with " = 3 ."

We need to "complete the square" of x^2 + 6x.  I'll just jump in and do it:  Take half of the coefficient of the x term and square it; add, and then subtract, this square from x^2 + 6x:     x^2 + 6x  + 3^2 - 3^2.  Then do the same for y^2 - 2y:  y^2 - 2y + 1^2 - 1^2.

Now re-write the perfect square x^2 + 6x + 9 by (x + 3)^2.  Then we have x^2 + 6x + 9 - 9; also y^2 - 1y + 1 - 1.  Making these replacements:

(x + 3)^2 - 9 + (y - 1)^2 -1 = 3.  Move the constants -9 and -1 to the other side of the equation:  (x + 3)^2 + (y - 1)^2 = 3 + 9 + 1 = 13

Then the original equation now looks like (x + 3)^2 + (y - 1)^2 = 13, and this 13 is the square of the radius, r:  r^2 = 13, so that the radius is r = √13.

Answer:

A' (-4, - 7), B' (-5, -4), C' (-4, -3), D' (-3, -4)

Step-by-step explanation:

When rotating about the origin at an angle of 90° in the counterclockwise direction, the given values of (x, y) are interchanged with y also taking a negative sign. That is ;

(x, y) - - - -> (-y, x)

Therefore, in the question above ;

Translation = (x-2, y+3)

A =(-5, 1) = (-5 - 2, 1 + 3) = (-7, 4) - - -> A' = (-4, - 7)

B =(-2, 2) = (-2 - 2, 2 + 3) =(-4, 5) - - -> B' = (-5, -4)

C =(-1, 1) = (-1 - 2, 1 + 3) = (-3, 4) - - -> C' = (-4, -3)

D =(-2, 0) = (-2 - 2, 0+3) =(-4, 3) - - -> D' = (-3, -4)
