In the years following the first and second Arab-Israeli wars, unresolved and mounting tensions resulted in a number of violent

exchanges along the Israel-Syria border. Conflict returned in 1967 with the Six-Day War. Concerned that Israel was mobilizing forces against its Arab neighbors, Egypt prepped its own military for defense. A signed agreement between a number of Arab states prompted Israeli leaders to preemptively strike Egypt. Israel won against Egypt, Jordan, Syria, and Iraq. During this war, Israel took over land that the UN had set aside for an Arab state. They also obtained some land that Egypt and Syria had taken in the previous war.
Following Israel’s victory in the Six-Day War, the Palestinian Liberation Organization (PLO) gained recognition and support as a representative organization for the Palestinian agenda. Yasser Arafat took over the organization in 1969. Under his leadership, the PLO waged guerilla warfare against Israel.

As a result of the Six-Day War, ________.

A) Israel lost a portion of its territory

B) Egypt took over land the UN had set aside

C) Israel gained more territory

D) the PLO lost support

Why was the governor sam houston against texas secession
Eva8 [605]

Answer:

The correct answer is: he did not think Southern states could win a war against Northern states.

Explanation:

Texas Governor Sam Houston was against the secession, but he was not able to prevent it. In his speech before Lincoln's election, he presented the argument that slavery would be safer within the U.S than outside it. He considered that the Republican party is based against their institutions.

He was serving as governor of Texas during the Civil War. He opposed secession and refused to take the oath of loyalty to the Confederate States of America, so he was evicted from his position.  He saw secessions with the sectional Republicans in power as the destruction of Texas and the South.

Briefly describe the historical situation in which the Declaration of Independence was written. Briefly describe a purpose of th
KIM [24]

Answer:

The Declaration of Independence of the United States was signed by representatives of thirteen British colonies in North America, by which they declared themselves an independent state, the United States. The Second Continental Congress, meeting in Philadelphia, declared the colonies independent on July 2, 1776, and adopted the Declaration of Independence on July 4.

The Declaration of Independence is considered the highlight of the American Revolution, and in the United States as an almost mythical nation-building event. The list of human rights at the beginning of the Declaration later inspired many other liberal revolutions and human rights declarations. Particularly famous is the second sentence of the Declaration, according to which all men are created equal and have the inalienable right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.
