Mantle convection - is when the plates move around the asthenosphere and the magma moves in circular patterns due to heat.

Movement of tectonic plates is related to convection currents in the earth's mantle. Tremendous heat and pressure within the earth cause the hot magma to flow in convection currents. These currents cause the movement of the tectonic plates that make up the earth's crust.

16. Which process(es) cause(s) thick sediment layers to accumulate along the boundaries of continental
taurus [48]

Answer:

The process of thick sediment layers to "accumulate" along the "boundaries of continental and oceanic plates" is called Subduction.

Explanation:

 • During a marine transgression, sea level raises high compared to land level resulting in floods. These are triggered during climate changes, ice-age, isostatic movements.
 • Subduction occurs at the tectonic plates where one plate is moves under another forcing to sink into Earth’s mantle due to the gravitational force.
 • The plates are continental and oceanic in the zone of lithosphere. The rate of subduction is usually seven to 8 centimetres per year.
 • Marine regressions are opposite to transgressions where sea levels fall compared to land levels.
 • Glaciation is the interval of time within an ice-age. The current glacier period is of Holocene.

Match the place to the letter that represents it on the map.
AURORKA [14]

Answer:

The Caribbean Sea - B

Panama - C

Belize - A

Nicaragua - F

Guatemala - G

El Salvador - E

Costa Rica - D

Honduras - H

Explanation:

The region shown on the map is Central America, but also the Caribbean Sea. This region, geographically speaking, is part of North America because it lies on the North American plate, but very often it is put as a separate region known as Central America, or rather the part of the Americas that connect North and South America. East of this region is located the Caribbean Sea, while west of is the Pacific Ocean

Central America is a region that was formerly a Spanish colony, with the exception of Belize, and this can be seen easily in the culture and languages that are spoken, with the Spanish dominating in six of the seven countries, while in Belize it is the English that is dominant. Five of the countries of Central America have access to both the Caribbean Sea and the Pacific Ocean, giving them an excellent strategic location. The region is almost entirely dominated by a tropical wet climate and it is covered with tropical rainforests. While many things seem to be excellent for these countries to be well developed and to have going well, they still struggle a lot, mainly because of internal conflicts.
