Did Galileo Galilee's support of the Copernican theory oppose the beliefs of the Catholic Church? provide evidence please, it's

for an essay and im really stuck on it haha. it did oppose the beliefs but i did my research and I'm majorly confused. thanks!! also if you could include, what Catholic scripture proves that they disagree with the Copernican theory,and can you go into depth with the scripture and what it means? ​

This was because they saw his astronomical work as being heretic, forced him to recant and spent the rest of his life under house arrest. Galileo Galilei was an Italian astronomer, physicist, engineer, philosopher and mathematician whose work greatly influenced the scientific revolution during the Renaissance.
